Gators

The gator thing started quite by accident. When looking for a name for my website and playing around with words, the title Edugator seemed like a good idea. We don’t have alligaors in Australia but the term Educroc didn’t lend itslf to inspire confidence in a website with an education focus. Visit the Edugator website for all things about IT and education.

On a recent trip to the USA we visited Florida where no trip would be complete without venturing into the Everglades. Having recently seen a less than inspiring TV travel program on this region we nearly bypassed it. As it was we made a last minute detour, we were so glad we did but wished we had allowed a far more time to explore this fascinating area.

As we started our walk a Park guide was returning with a tour group. We overheard him explaining that there were several around this morning but it was probably too hot now so that’s why they hadn’t seen any. Hmmm looks like we would be out of luck, however we were not disappointed and saw several gators, big gators. Apart from being amazed at their graceful movement through the water we were surprised by the sound they made – a low rumbling growl. One started and then sounds came from all around us, the seemingly empty pond was obviously anything but empty.
